Man Arrested in Connection With Recent Storage Unit Thefts

Do you rent a storage unit at Simply Self Storage in Tewksbury? You might want to check and make sure your stuff is all there.
Tewksbury Police have arrested Peter Ortiz, 30 of 20 Warren St., Leicester for receiving stolen property over $250, a subsequent offense, in connection with a string of recent storage unit robberies.
Detectives have been conducting an ongoing investigation into six storage unit thefts at Simply Self Storage, located at 470 Main St. over the past several months.
According to Police Chief Timothy Sheehan, the investigation led them to a storage unit located at Simply Self Storage which belonged to Ortiz. A search warrant was executed and numerous amounts of property were recovered.
"This is an ongoing investigation as we attempt to identify the owners of the recovered property," said Sheehan, in a press release.

Ortiz was arraigned on March 27, 2017 at Lowell District Court and additional charges are pending.
