Tewksbury Police Arrest Shawsheen Street Man, One Other, On Drug Charges

 On June 9, 2017, the Tewksbury Police Department arrested Demetrio Batista, 25 of 3 Bevel Street, Lawrence for distribution of a class b substance (cocaine) and possession with the intent to distribute a class a substance (heroin).  Also arrested was Desmond O’Loughlin, 51, of 721 Shawsheen Street, Tewksbury for possession of a class b substance (cocaine), resisting arrest, and misleading a police officer.  

Detectives conducted an investigation into illicit drug sales in the area of 721 Shawsheen Street and observed a drug transaction while on surveillance.  O’Loughlin fled on foot after meeting with Batista on Woodside Terrace.  Detectives were able to place O’Loughlin into custody after a brief struggle.  Batista was also placed into custody without incident.  Cocaine and heroin were recovered.  

Both were due to be arraigned at Lowell District Court on June 12, 2017.
