Wamesit Lanes Person Of The Week: Kayleigh Ann Nagle

Jul 21, 2017 02:52PM ● By Bill Gilman

Julie Baker of Wamesit Lanes presents Kayleigh Nagle with her gift card as Wamesit Lanes Person of the Week.

Kayleigh Ann Nagle has grown up learning all about the hard work and long hours it takes to make a living as a farmer.
For many young people these days, the sweat, dirt, aches and pains are enough to make them dream of a life far from crops and livestock.
But this special 12-year-old has not only helped out with her family's business, she has helped her mother start a second business and has even started one of her own.
And that's why Kayleigh Ann is our Wamesit Lanes Person of the Week.
Kayleigh's family owns and operates Krochmal Farm in South Tewksbury. Known to many as a pig farm, Krochmal has a wide variety of animals, including sheep, goats, chickens and cattle. Krochmal is also home to the annual Pumpkin Fest on weekends in the fall and the Santa Social every December, all of which Kayleigh helps out with.
This year, Kayleigh helped her mother, Jen Nagle, start Indian Valley Goats Dairy, which produces goat milk and a variety of related products, such as soaps, bath bombs, lip balm, etc.
All of which is tiring just to think about. But Kayleigh has had enough energy to start her own business. She raises Bantam and Silkie chickens and sells their eggs. Her business name?
"Kayleigh's Butt Nuggets."
"We were getting a lot of chicken eggs and realized there were a lot of people in town that wanted farm fresh eggs so I decided to start selling them," she said. "I probably collect and sell about 4 1/2 dozen eggs a week right now."
Raising chickens wasn't something Kayleigh set out to do, as much as it was kind of thrust upon the family.
"Our first two chickens were Bantams. Someone just left them off on the farm road and we picked them up and decided to raise them," said Kayleigh, will be starting 7th Grade at the Wynn School this fall. "And then the Silkies, I learned more about them. They're really fluffy and they lay really good eggs."
Kayleigh's Butt Nuggets are available for purchase on the Indian Valley Goats Dairy website and at the Indian Valley Goats Dairy at Krochmal Farm Farmstand, every Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m.
For being named Wamesit Lanes Person of the Week, Kayleigh Ann Nagle received a gift card from Wamesit Lanes Family Entertainment Center.
