Local and State Police are continuing to investigate the cause of a single-car crash that sent a Tewksbury resident to the hospital Wednesday afternoon with serious injuries.
The victim, a 63-year-old woman, was taken by Medflight to a Boston area hospital after sustaining what was described as a significant head trauma.
According to Tewksbury Police, the accident took place around 4 p.m. on Marshall Street. The victim was alone, driving a 2014 Chevy SUV, when she apparently lost control of the vehicle, it left and the road and struck a utility pole, snapping it in two. The vehicle then rolled and came to rest against the home at 283 Marshall St.
It was not immediately known if the driver had suffered some type of medical episode precipitating the accident.
According to Police Chief Timothy Sheehan, the victim was conscious but not coherent, when she was extracted from the vehicle and transported.
As of Friday morning, there was no additional information released on the condition of the victim and her name had not been released.
