Tewksbury Hosts Color Guard Competition

Jan 29, 2018 07:36AM ● By Paige Impink

The Tewksbury Music Association and Tewksbury Memorial High School's Affinity Winter Color Guard will be hosting a competition on February 3, 2018, beginning at 3 PM.
The competition is part of the New England Scholastic Band Association competition circuit.  Over thirty winter color guard and percussion ensembles from across Massachusetts and New Hampshire will compete for the first time this season performing shows that most began working on in October.
Percussion ensembles will perform music using only percussion instruments and set it to movement and visual elements to create a story and impact.
Winter color guards will perform shows to recordings utilizing dance, props, and equipment such as flags, rifles and sabers.  Ensembles will compete in divisions ranging from novice class (beginners as young 4 years old) through world class (the major leagues of percussion and color guard).
The competition will begin at 3 PM and run through 9:30 PM.  Doors open to the public at 1:30 PM.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students.
All proceeds from the event will benefit Tewksbury Memorial High School music students.  For more information about the event and the New England Scholastic Band Association, please visit their website:
