The 2017-18 Methuen-Tewksbury Red Ranger hockey team.

The Methuen-Tewksbury girls hockey team is one victory away from a trip to the Boston Garden for the Division 1 State Championship.
The 4th-seeded Red Rangers advanced to the Final Four with a 3-1 quarterfinal win over No. 5 Barnstable, Tuesday night in Brighton.
Kelly Golini, fresh off becoming her team'sĀ all-time leading scorer, had a pair of goals and an assist to lead the Methuen-Tewksbury offense. Cassidy Grunning also scored.
Goalie Kaia Hollingsworth continued her sensational post-season play with 17 saves.
It was Grunning who got the things rolling for the Red Rangers (20-1-2), cashing in on a feed from Golini with four minutes left in the first period.
Barnstable (17-2-4) got the equalizer a short time later, but as time wound down in the period, Golini took a feed from Carolyn Curley and found the back of the net to give the Red Rangers a 2-1 lead.
It stayed that way through the second and third periods, as both goaltenders made some tremendous saves. Methuen-Tewksbury couldn't breathe easy until Golini scored an empty net goal with 35 seconds left to ice the win.
The Red Rangers will skate Monday, March 12, in Woburn, against the winner of Thursday's quarterfinal between No. 1 Shrewsbury (20-0-1) and No. 9 Masconomet (17-3-2).
