Market Basket Employee Sustains Serious Electrical Burns

A 57-year-old man suffered serious injuries Tuesday morning, when he was working  at the Oakdale Plaza in South Tewksbury.
According to a statement issued by the Tewksbury Fire Department, the incident took place around 10:44 a.m. The man, a Market Basket employee, was working on electrical equipment in a utility room when an incident took place.
According to the TFD, the man was conscious and alert when first responders arrived. He suffered second and third degree burns on his hands, face and arms.
The victim was treated at the scene and then was transported by MedFlight to Mass. General Hospital in Boston for treatment. His condition was not immediately available.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation. The incident caused a brief power outage impacting about 20 homes and businesses around Oakdale Plaza.
