Every winter, the Tewksbury Fire Department reminds residents that their ability to easily access hydrants can be the difference between saving a home, or a life, and not.
To that end, the TFD asks residents to help by shoveling out hydrants located near their homes.
This year, an incentive was offered.
The TFD invited residents to submit photos of themselves next to a hydrant they had just shoveled out. From the submissions received, one name would be chosen at random to win a ride on a Tewksbury Fire Department ladder truck!
On Monday, the TFD selected a name (see the video of the drawing below), and the winner is Abigail Downing!
Congratulations to Abigail and congratulations to all the people who participated in the contest and helped keep Tewksbury safer by shoveling out hydrants.
And, of course, a big "thank you" to the Tewksbury Fire Fighters who serve the community bravely.
