(Editor's note: On Tuesday, the Tewksbury Police issues the following Code Red alert in anticipation of a winter storm expected to hit the Merrimack Valley on Wednesday.)

It is likely that Tewksbury will be impacted by a significant storm beginning Wednesday morning into Thursday morning with the potential for significant snowfall. Forecasters are calling for 8+ inches of snowfall and wind gusts of up to 30 to 40 mph. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Middlesex County.

Tewksbury Police Department recommends that all residents prepare emergency storm kits containing such items as:
 Water
 Non-perishable food
 Prescription medications
 Flashlight
 Batteries
 Battery-powered radio
 Blankets and Warm Clothing

In the event that you do lose power, please report the outage to National Grid by calling 1-800-465-1212 or go to www.nationalgridus.com . Residents are reminded to stay clear of any downed power lines and report all emergencies to nine one one. The Tewksbury Police Department is open 24/7 for residents to charge devices, get warm, and get storm updates. Please report any emergency needs, including shelter and medical needs, directly to Tewksbury Police Department.

Residents can also stay connected to the Town and Police Department websites and social media sites for storm resource information and updates.
