Children and grownups had a chance to participate in a bowling tournament and a cornhole tournament, as well as enjoy free video games, free food and a car show featuring the most amazing public safety vehicles, including a chopper and a Secret Service limo!
Police Departments from throughout Massachusetts participated in the event, as did the State Police and NEMLEC.
But the main purpose of the event was to raise funds for families of children battling cancer. In all, an estimated $40,000 was raised. The guest of honor, young Ahmed Juma, of Lowell, and his family, were presented with a check for $5,000. Ahmed is a cancer patient at the Tufts Medical Center.
Later, the Wilmington and Tewksbury Police Departments presented the Cops for Kids With Cancer Foundation with a check for $40,000 from the event.
This afternoon representatives from the Wilmington PD, @TewksburyPD, & @WamesitLanes presented @CopsForKids1 a check for $40,000 from the fundraiser held earlier this month. We want to thank everyone who donated & those who participated! #WilmingtonMA #Tewksbury pic.twitter.com/YJbjTQkb0i— Wilmington MA Police (@WilmingtonMAPD) June 21, 2018
