Hundreds of families turned out recently at Tewksbury Memorial High School for the annual Tewksbury Police Annual Night Out.
The event, which the Tewksbury PD began participating in several years ago, serves multiple purposes. It's a fun community event, with a free cookout and refreshments, as well activities and games for the youngsters.
But it also serves as a chance for connection between the residents of Tewksbury and their public safety officers. Families had a chance to explore emergency vehicles and get to know some of the men and women that keep them safe each day.
In recent years, the event has also served as a chance for local businesses and non-profit organizations that promote health and safety, in some form or another, to set up informational booths and get their message out to the public.
By any measure, the 2018 Tewksbury Police National Night Out was a huge success.
Editor Bill Gilman was on hand for the event and compiled this photo gallery.
