Connolly, Aylward Lead Redmen's 35-14 Rout Of Billerica

A near-perfect game from quarterback Jay Connolly was just what the doctor ordered for the Tewksbury High football team.
Connolly completed 15-of-17 passes for 274 yards and four touchdowns, as the Redmen (4-1) rebounded from their first loss of the season with a 35-14 thrashing of Billerica, Saturday afternoon.
As he has been for much of the season, Connolly's favorite target was split end Shane Aylward, who hauled in 9 of Connolly's passes for 180 yards and three of those touchdowns.
The Tewksbury defense, which has had its ups and downs this season, turned in one of its strongest outings, holding the Indians under 130 yards of total offense.
The Redmen led from wire-to-wire, jumping in front on a 14-yard TD strike from Connolly to Josh Sughrue to cap an 80-yard scoring drive on their opening possession.
Billerica (2-2) struck back and cut the lead to 7-6. But from there, it was all Tewksbury.
A 55-yard touchdown pass from Connolly to Aylward made it 14-6. Minutes later, the same pair hooked up from 24 yards out to balloon the lead to 21-6.
The Indians managed to cut the lead to 21-14 and appeared to be taking momentum into intermission when they scored with about a minute to play in the first half. But that was more than enough time for Connolly and the Redmen to do more damage. Tewksbury marched 66 yards quickly and Aylward capped the drive when he took a lateral from Connolly and launched a 22-yard touchdown pass to tight end Connor Brincklow, making it 28-14 at the break.
Aylward then capped the scoring in the second half with a 34-yard TD reception from Connolly.

Social media was buzzing during the game. Some of the posts can be seen below.
