Elderly Man Fights Off Would-Be Carjacker In Convenience Store Parking Lot

On October 7, 2018 the Tewksbury Police Department arrested Jacob M. Strow, 21, of 9 Allston Ave, Wilmington, MA for armed carjacking, armed assault with intent to rob a person over 60 years of age, assault and battery on a person over 60 years of age and attempt to commit a crime, to wit: armed robbery while being masked.      

Tewksbury Police responded to the 7-Eleven, located at 2280 Main St., at 10:06 PM for a report of a robbery in the parking lot.  When officers arrived the suspect had fled the area.  It was learned that a man in his 60’s was sitting in his vehicle when he was approached by the suspect, who pointed a handgun at him, attempted to rob him and steal his vehicle.  A fight ensured between the suspect and the victim.  A passerby stopped to help the victim, which caused the suspect to flee on foot.    

With the assistance from the Wilmington Police, Strow was located a short distance away.  Evidence was recovered, including a pellet handgun that resembled a firearm.  Strow was placed into custody and transported to Tewksbury Police Headquarters.  

Strow is due to be arraigned at Lowell District Court on October 9, 2018.
