Tewksbury Public Library

#1) FOOD FOR FINES: The Tewksbury Public Library is holding a "Food For Fines" drive to benefit Tewksbury's Food Pantry during the entire month of October. For every non-perishable food item donated at the library, $1 in fines will be cleared from the donor's library card account.  Donations must be brought to the Front Desk and donors are asked to have their library cards handy.  Please note that "Food For Fines" only applies to fines for overdue library materials, not fees for lost or damaged materials. No perishable donations, expired donations, or donations in glass jars can be accepted.

Suggested food donations include: baked beans, condiments, pancake mix, tea bags, cereal, pasta sauce, cooking oil, baby food, beef stew, canned chili, canned tuna, hot chocolate, salad dressing, peanut butter, crackers, jam or jelly, flour, sugar, coffee, syrup, pasta, juice, cookies, macaroni & cheese, powdered drink mixes, instant potatoes, and dry milk. Household items such as shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, disposable razors, dishwasher soap and liquid laundry soap are also greatly appreciated.

Please note that the library serves as a drop-off location for Tewksbury's Food Pantry year-round, with a donation box located in our lobby area.

#2) FEELING LUCKY? The Tewksbury Public Library’s Community Garden organizers are holding a 50/50 raffle. Tickets cost $5 each or 3 for $10 and can be purchased at the library’s Front Desk. 50% of the proceeds will go the winner and 50% of the Community Garden. The drawing will be held on December 17. The winner will be immediately notified.

#3) MODEL SHIPS: Members of the Merrimack Valley Ship Model Club are displaying some of their best work in one of the library’s lobby display cases through the month of October. 17 ships on display, created by Alex Bellinger, Marshall Gaffney, Cap Purinton, Keith Manville, Roy Crane and Rob Napier.

#4) STILL LIFE: The latest library art show from the Tewksbury Community of Artists is now up. The show’s theme is “Still Life.” Participating artists include Jack Bordenca, Tom Borgal, Valerie Borgal, Elaine Meisinger, Anna Marie Nicoletti, Donna Price and Meg Robertson. The show can be found in the library’s first-floor Fairgrieve Wing. The show runs through November 5.

#5) SAVE A LIFE: The Tewksbury Public Library is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, October 23 from 2pm to 7pm. The need for blood is constant and your donation can help save up to 3 lives. Drop-ins are welcome. You can also schedule an appointment ahead of time on the Red Cross website. Donors will receive a mini swag bag with small gifts generously donated by Wilmington-Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce members.
