LETTER: Lyons Deserves Another Term As State Rep.

Nov 03, 2018 07:57AM

To The Editor:

This year, the people of the 18th Essex District have a clear choice – elect a radical-leftist or elect a staunch supporter of our communities. Representative Jim Lyons fights for us and our families, and that’s why he has my vote.

Rep. Lyons has been on the front lines of the opioid epidemic, fighting for better rehabilitation for addicts and for locking up dangerous drug dealers. With Jim in the statehouse, our communities have seen an unprecedented increase in local aid. That’s money that benefits our children’s schools, repairs damaged roads and bridges, and keeps our first responders safe. Jim has drawn a line in the sand with the Beacon Hill establishment, putting his constituents’ and his district’s needs above the pet projects of the go along to get along crowd in Boston.

There is no doubt in my mind that Ms. Nguyen is an accomplished attorney and an advocate for those in need. However, she has peddled outlandish claims against Rep. Lyons and has proven she will champion causes that serve no benefit to the people of Tewksbury, Andover, Boxford and North Andover. Just look at her campaign report – nearly all of her donors come from out-of-district, including far-left bastions like New York City and Los Angeles, places nowhere near the 18th Essex.

Rep. Lyons has served with distinction for the last eight years. He’s not afraid to stand up for what’s right for our district and to hold Beacon Hill power-brokers accountable. Jim is beholden to only the people of the 18th Essex District. Now, it’s up to us, the voters, to give him another term.
