During November 2018, the Tewksbury Police Department will be participating in “No Shave November” to benefit Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program that helps veterans and their families heal from the invisible wounds of war, such as TBI, PTSD, and related conditions. Each officer that pledges a minimum donation of $100 will be grante

d a month-long waiver from the department policy restricting facial hair growth. “No Shave November” allows officers to show support for veterans and their families while fostering camaraderie.

In 2015, MBTA Transit Police started the “No Shave November” first responder initiative and raised $15,000. In 2017, Tewksbury Police Department raised $3,000 for this great initiative and we are looking to improve on that number this year. We challenge other police departments to step up to the plate and support Home Base along with us! We also encourage family members, friends, and members of the Tewksbury community to join the Tewksbury Police Department in this initiative to help as many veterans and their families as possible. We look forward to seeing lots of facial hair in Tewksbury and thank those willing to participate in advance. Additional info and photos from last year can be found at:
