Tewksbury Couple Arrested In Andover For Allegedly Trafficking Cocaine

A Tewksbury couple are facing felony drug charges, after Andover Police found a kilo of cocaine in their vehicle during a traffic stop.
Felipe Fernandes, 34, and Lidiane Fernandes, 24, of Tewksbury, are charged with one count each of trafficking in more than 200 grams of a Class B substance (cocaine).
The arrests took place around 4 p.m. on Nov. 21. According to Police Chief Patrick Keefe, narcotics detectives were conducting surveillance in the area of River Road when they spotted a vehicle they believed was involved in an alleged drug deal. Detectives John Delaney, Michael Lane and Matthew Hughes pulled over the vehicle and found Felipe and Lidiane Fernandes inside.
A search of the vehicle uncovered the one-kilo package of cocaine. The drugs have a street value of roughly $20,000.
The couple was arraigned Friday in Lawrence District Court. Bail was set at $500,000 for Felipe Fernandes and $150,000 for Lidiane Fernandes.
