Tewksbury To Open Outdoor Skating Rink Wednesday

Jan 14, 2019 04:06PM ● By Bill Gilman
Don't expect the NHL to come knocking about a new "Winter Classic" venue, but Tewksbury is preparing to open an outdoor skating rink for recreational use.
According to information released by the town, the Tewksbury Public Outdoor Skating Rink will open to the public on Wednesday, Jan. 16.
The rink will be open for public skating seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Hockey is not allowed on the rink, so pucks and sticks are forbidden. But skaters of all ability levels are invited to enjoy the facility. Those with figure skating experience can perform jumps and spins in the middle of the rink, just like during public skating time at indoor rinks. Casual skaters will circle the rink counter-clockwise with beginners asked to stay to the right to avoid collisions.
Small children and beginners are encouraged to wear elbow pads and knee pads. Any skaters under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
