TEWKSBURY - The victim in a single-vehicle crash on I-495 south on Friday night has been identified as Robert Flagg, 37, of Peterborough, N.H.., according to a Massachusetts State Police press release.
The results of a preliminary investigation by Trooper Christopher Ryan indicates that Flagg was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck the tree line.
Flagg, the only occupant of the vehicle, was not wearing a seatbelt. He was ejected from the vehicle and subsequently pronounced dead at the scene, the release states.
Due to the 6:30 p.m. crash a portion of the highway was temporarily shut down. The crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, troopers assigned to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
State Police were assisted on scene by Tewksbury Fire and EMS and MassDOT.
