While the 2019 Municipal Election nomination period has slowed somewhat, following a torrid start, candidates continue to take out papers and gather the signatures needed to appear on the April 6 ballot.
As of Jan. 23, each of the seats up for grabs has at least one potential candidate who has pulled nomination papers. That's the good news. The bad news is, several races are presently uncontested, even if every candidate that has taken out nomination papers returns them and has them certified.
Three candidates have already had their signatures certified and will appear on the ballot. They are: Board of Selectmen candidate Jayne Wellman, Housing Authority candidate John Deputat and Planning Board incumbent Vincent Fratalia.
The race with the potential to be the most wide open affair is the Board of Health, with at least five possible candidates. Incumbents Anthony Boscetti and George Ferdinand have both taken out papers, but so have challengers Maria Zaroulis, Kylee Perrotta and, most recently, Sandra Creamer.
Nomination papers for Town of Tewksbury elected offices will be available at the Town Clerk’s Office,Town Hall, 1009 Main St. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
