Imposter Arrested After Nearly Striking Officer, Slamming Into Unmarked Police Vehicle

On Wednesday, Feb. 13, the Tewksbury Police Department arrested Jairo Samuel Andujar, 26, 12 Grove St., Lawrence for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon to wit a motor vehicle, assault with a dangerous weapon (the motor vehicle upon a police officer), failure to stop for police, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a false/stolen RMV document (2 counts), identity fraud (5 counts), false identification information to law enforcement, misleading a police investigation, and numerous motor vehicle violations.
Tewksbury detectives observed suspicious activity on Woburn Street and conducted a traffic stop. As Detectives approached Andujar’s vehicle identifying themselves as police officers with badge’s displayed, Andujar put his car in reverse and struck an unmarked police vehicle, nearly striking a detective.
The vehicle then pulled forward and went around another unmarked police vehicle nearly striking it as well. He then led police on a short pursuit, at which time he was taken into custody on Route 495 North.
While being booked in for the listed charges at the Tewksbury Police Department, Andujar identified himself as Angel Montes-Rodrigues (05/17/1990). Further investigation revealed that Andujar, a Dominican National, had stolen and assumed the identity of a resident by that name from Puerto Rico.
Andujar possessed an authentic Massachusetts driver’s license under the name Angel Luis Montes-Rodriguez with his picture affixed. Also located in his possession were a social security card, birth certificate, and Massachusetts learner’s permit all under the name Angel Luis Montes-Rodriguez.
Andujar later made admissions that he came to the United States from the Dominican Republic last May and that once here he obtained the stolen identification package (social security card and birth certificate) for $800 in New York which were later used to fraudulently obtain the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicle documents (license and permit).
Andujar was arraigned at Lowell District Court on February 14, 2019 and released on $500.00 cash bail.
