The 7th seeded Redmen (16-4-3) outlasted No. 14 Danvers, 4-1, Tuesday night, to move into the Division 2 North final against MVC/DCL rival No. 4 Boston Latin (17-3-3).
The final is scheduled for Monday, March 11 at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell. Time is TBA.
Tewksbury and Boston Latin have faced off twice this season, with Latin winning both games, 3-2 and 4-2.
Against Danvers (12-9-2), Tewksbury dominated the action through the first two periods but still found themselves locked in a 1-1 tie heading into the third. Falcons' goalie Robert Prentiss frustrated the Redmen repeatedly, finishing with 38 saves. TMHS goalie Patrick Letourneau, who has been nothing short of brilliant throughout the tournament, turned in another stellar performance with 21 saves.
With the pressure mounting on both teams in the third period, it was Danvers that cracked. Play got chippy and the Falcons found themselves shorthanded on multiple occasions. Tewksbury was more than happy to take advantage with a pair of power play goals.
Aaron Scott put Tewksbury on top for good, converting a feed from Aaron Connolly with 9:45 to play in regulation. Jason Cooke later added an unassisted insurance goal, also on a power play, to make it 3-1.
Two Danvers players would be ejected from the game for misconduct penalties.
Tewksbury's Cole Stone put the exclamation mark on the win with an empty net goal in the final minute.
Kyle Morris put Tewksbury on the board in the first period, with the assist going to Scott. But that was the only damage the Redmen could do in the first 30 minutes against Prentiss, who made several outstanding saves.
