Wanted Fugitive Is Captured In Tewksbury

George Spates was wanted on charges in three states.

On April 12, 2019 the Tewksbury Police Department, along with the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested George N. Spates, 31, of Olde Country Village Rd., Londonderry, NH for several outstanding warrants in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New Jersey.
He was charged with 7 counts of being a fugitive from justice for; theft (NH), habitual traffic offender (NH), stalking (NH), habitual harassment offender (NH), identity fraud (NH), receiving stolen property (NH), witness tampering (NH), burglary (NJ), and a parole violation (NH). His Massachusetts warrants were for larceny of a motor vehicle, malicious destruction of property and trespassing.
Spates had been on the run for several months when the U.S. Marshals Service received information that he was staying at the Extended Stay America located at 1910 Andover St. Tewksbury Police Officers and the U.S. Marshals approached the hotel. Spates was outside and fled when he saw officers approaching.
After a short foot pursuit, Spates was apprehended at the Longhorn Steak House, located next to the hotel.
Spates was arraigned Tuesday morning at Lowell District Court.
