Marotta, Schifano Named Rotary Club Hats Off Winners

Tewksbury High seniors Julia Masotta and Joseph Schifano were recently honored as the Rotary Club Hats Off Award Winners for April.
Winners are nominated by Tewksbury High teachers and chosen based on academic achievement, participation in extra-curricular activities and community involvement.
Masotta and Schifano were honored at a recent Rotary Club luncheon at Tewksbury Country Club.

Athletic Activities: Member of Girls Ice Hockey Team

Member of Girls Lacrosse Team (Captain junior and senior year)

Special Achievements: Won league MVP in hockey

Won team MVP in hockey

Lead all of Massachusetts for hockey in goals

Community Service: Volunteer for youth hockey at the Boston Shamrock’s organization

Work Experience: Employed at Dandi Lyons ice cream shop

Other: Attending Norwich University in the fall to earn a degree in elementary education.

Nominating faculty member, Ms. Catherine Stack states that Julia has been a conscientious and diligent student in every class she has taught her.  She reports that Julia is also an outstanding citizen, sharing her skills, and love of hockey with physically challenged athletes through Boston Jr. Shamrocks shed hockey.

Nominating faculty member, Ms. Dustine Puma states that Joe’s amazing qualities, strength of character, and ability to have adversity demonstrates the epitomy of Tewksbury Tough.  His intelligence, work ethic, and characteristic of being an all-around great kid places him head and shoulders above his peers.  Ms. Puma explained that in the two classes she has taught Joe, his compassion for the quiet kid or his ability to critically think continuously impresses her.
