A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of three men for possession of fireworks and firearms last week.

Driver Sovann Yern, 31, and passengers Steven Yern, 28, and Samart Nou, 32, all from Lowell were arrested after their 2003 Toyota Sequoia was pulled over by Massachusetts State Police, at around 2:15 a.m., Friday morning on Route 495 in Tewksbury.

According to State Police, the officer observed fireworks in the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed additional illegal fireworks, as well as a loaded Rossi .38 Special revolver that had been reported stolen from North Carolina.

The suspects were all arraigned Friday in Lowell District Court, charged with possessing stolen fireworks, possessing a loaded firearm, receiving stolen property valued under $1,200, possessing ammunition without an FID card.
