WORCESTER, MA -- Madison Ryan of Tewksbury is one of 19 students spending a month studying at Assumption College's Rome Campus, where the city and country of Italy become a living classroom.

Assumption offers this month-long summer program to those students who are not able to take advantage of the opportunity to spend their fall or spring semesters abroad. While in Rome, students will take the Business of Italian Tourism class, which counts as a major elective for marketing, management, and international business majors, and one of Assumption is many online summer course offerings.

"The summer program at our Rome campus is an excellent opportunity for students to remain academically active while also exploring the world," said Greg Weiner, Ph.D., provost of Assumption College. "The city and country become a classroom as they explore history, art, and theology, which complement lessons learned in the classroom, culminating in a personal and educational experience unlike any other."

Nationally ranked as a top-ten best study abroad program in the U.S., Assumption's Rome Campus provides students with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that allows them to immerse themselves in the Roman culture. This program, which is offered during fall and spring semesters in addition to the month-long summer session, provides students with the luxury of residing in an authentic Roman neighborhood, close to a public transportation and a variety of shopping, dining, and other recreational options.

As a center of Christian devotion, Rome is the perfect place to deepen one's faith; in addition to the Vatican, Rome's historical churches are easily accessible to students, providing opportunities to learn more about the Catholic faith and how it is practiced throughout different cultures.
