HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: TMHS Football Slams Needham, Quinn Leads Field Hockey Over Dracut

Tewksbury 32, Needham 6

Tewksbury High spotted host Needham an early 6-0 lead before roaring back for a 32-6, Friday night, to open the 2019 season.

Senior Shane Aylward showed he is already in mid-season form. His touchdown runs of 12 and 4 yards gave the Redmen the lead heading into halftime. But it was when he returned the second-half kickoff 90 yards for his third score that Tewksbury took firm control.

Junior quarterback Ryne Rametta (9 of 12, 132 yards) got in on the act with a 40-yard scoring strike to Nolan Timmons. Kyle Darrigo then capped the scoring with a 21-yard TD jaunt.

Kalu Olu led a balanced ground attack for Tewksbury with 75 yards.

After giving up a score on Needham's first possession, the TMHS defense played lockdown the rest of the way. The Redmen had sacks from four different players and got a fumble recover from Brodie Tirrell.

Tewksbury (No. 9, Boston Herald Top 25) . will be in action again Saturday, hosting MVC rival Methuen High in the Redmen's home opener, Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at Doucette Stadium.

Shawsheen Tech 49, Chelsea 6

Dylan Timmons rushed for 128 yards and three touchdowns to lead Shawsheen Tech to a 49-6 rout of Chelsea.

The Rams also got three touchdown passes from quarterback Chris Disciscio  to Josiah Martinez, Jake Bonanno and Anthony Dampolo. 

Josiah Martinez returned the second half kickoff for another touchdown, while Conor Rooney scored on an interception return.

Girls Soccer
Tewksbury 1, North Andover 1
Iris Diaz had the lone goal for Tewksbury, as the Redmen battled to a hard-fought 1-1 tie agains North Andover.

Boys Soccer
Billerica 2, Tewksbury 1

Zach Lalonde scored with 30 minutes to play to tie the game, But Billerica scored late for a 2-1 win in MVC play.

Tewksbury 3, Methuen 0

Field Hockey
Tewksbury 6, Dracut 1

Ryan Quinn exploded for a hat trick and two assists to lead Tewksbury to the rout of MVC rival Dracut.

Morgan Woodman added a pair of goals for the Redmen. Alexis Raymond chipped in with a goal and an assist. Olivia Burns had a pair of assists.
