On November 23, 2019 the Tewksbury Police Department arrested Dimitri E. Solis, 19, of 14 Roosevelt Towers, Cambridge for unlawful possession of a loaded firearm.
Officers responded to the Mobil Gas Station located at 2 Main Street at 2:00 am for a report of a large group of individuals fighting, one possibly being armed with a handgun.
As officers arrived, numerous people began to scatter on foot in and cars. As one of the vehicles was stopped and officers were trying to safely gain control of the situation, Solis was observed with another party walking away from the scene.
Officers asked him to stop, but he continued to walk away. He was eventually detained by the officers once they caught up with him.
A search was conducted for officer safety, which resulted in the recovery of a loaded 9 mm hand gun, which was in his waist band. After a brief struggle with Solis, he was arrested.
None of the other individuals were cooperative with the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
Solis was arraigned at Lowell District Court on November 25, 2019 where he was held on $5,000.00 cash bail.
