Red Rangers Face A Tough Road In Defense of D1 State Hockey Title

Feb 23, 2020 07:44PM ● By Bill Gilman
The Methuen-Tewksbury girls hockey team begins defense of its Division 1 State championship this week ... but the road to a repeat won't be easy.
The Red Rangers struggled at times this season, finishing with a 10-4-6 record. A solid campaign to be sure and one that most teams would gladly take. But the Red Rangers have become accustomed to deep playoff runs and that will be a challenge, as they find themselves seeded No. 13 in the 32-team field.
M-T will open the tournament at home against No. 20 Longmeadow (8-6-4). The game will be played Wednesday at Methuen High at 7 p.m.
With an opening round win, the Red Rangers will move on to face either No. 4 Woburn (15-2-2) on the road or No. 29 Cape Cod (8-7-5) in the Round of 16.

The complete Division 1 Girls State Hockey bracket is below.
