Public Health Museum in Tewksbury Has joined The North American Reciprocal Museum Association.

The Public Health Museum in Tewksbury announced this week that it has joined the North American Reciprocal Museum Association.

The NARM Association is an extensive network of hundreds of cultural institutions across the United States, Bermuda, Canada, El Salvador and Mexico. NARM members benefit from an unprecedented level of access to hundreds of cultural institutions.

According to Dr. Kathie Domoto, president of the museum, the decision to join and offer NARM memberships to the community was complimentary to the mission of the Public Health Museum.

“As a small institution, we recognize the benefit of partnering with other venues to provide access and education to the community” she said.

“Niche museums are wonderful resources for research, education and enrichment” said Domoto. “Through NARM, we can offer our visitors the chance to enjoy a whole range of museum experiences that might otherwise have gone unnoticed” she said.

Merrimack Valley residents may purchase NARM memberships directly through the Public Health Museum for $135. This one-time price includes more than 900 cultural, arts and historical institutions along with botanical gardens, children’s museums, science and technology centers through its reciprocal benefit program.

There are over 50 museums in Massachusetts alone which participate in this program. A membership purchased through the museum also provides free admission to the PHM, a 10% discount at the museum shop, one free guest pass, quarterly newsletter and a vote at the museum’s annual meeting. The NARM pass is a great gift idea for families or those who frequent museums and cultural institutions.

Some local participants include The Discovery Museum in Acton, the Edward M. Kennedy Institute in Boston, the Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem and the New Bedford Whaling Museum, just to name a few. Some restrictions apply to ticketed concerts and events which vary by institution. For more information, or to purchase a membership online, visit
