Not only is it important to your job search to be a LinkedIn member; it’s
important to be on LinkedIn frequently. If you’re not using LinkedIn’s mobile
app to conduct your job search, you are missing out. The LinkedIn app will keep
you connected when you’re away from your computer. You can apply for positions
while you’re out and about. The app is becoming increasingly more powerful. Led
by Bob McIntosh, who serves as a Workshop Facilitator, Career Strategist,
LinkedIn Trainer, and LinkedIn Profile & Resume Consultant at the MassHire
Lowell Career Center. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
How
To Be Happier -- Understanding The Science Of Happiness ON ZOOM (*RR)
Monday, June 15, 7pm
Do you ever find yourself wishing
you could feel happier? Many of us do and we think we will feel happier as a
result of something – such as finding a new job, finishing a project, losing 10
pounds, etc. However, psychologists and neurologists are now realizing that
happiness can be more readily achieved through changing the way we think. Come
learn this revolutionary concept and receive practical tools for achieving this
new mindset with Lizzie Linn Casanave, professor of philosophy at Northern
Essex Community College. She currently teaches Practical Logic, Introduction to
Philosophy, Introduction to Ethics and First Year Seminar. Her curriculum
includes a workshop on “The Science of Happiness” which looks at happiness
through the lens of positive psychology. Lizzie received her BA in
Philosophy/Religion and World Perspectives and her MA in Critical and Creative
Thinking.

how much and what type of memory loss is to be expected as one gets older and
what should trigger a visit to the doctor. Learn how to convey your memory
concerns to your doctor and what your doctor will likely do to evaluate your
memory. Learn about medicines, alternative therapies, diets and exercises that
may be able to improve your memory. Dr. Andrew Budson is Professor of Neurology
at Boston University, Lecturer in Neurology at Harvard Medical School, and
Chief of Cognitive & Behavioral Neurology at the Veterans Affairs Boston
Healthcare System. He has published three books and writes regularly for
"Psychology Today" and the "Harvard Health Blog."
Laughter
Circle ON FACEBOOK LIVE
Wednesday, June 17, noon
This program is for all ages. This
program combines voluntary laughter exercises with gentle breathing techniques
to teach the body how to laugh without relying on jokes or humor. This is a
participatory program where we will create moments to laugh in through guided
actions. No need to bring a yoga mat--most of the program is seated, with
options for standing or gentle movement. What are the benefits of laughter?
Mood elevates. Stress, depression and tension decrease. Immunity improves. Lung
capacity increases through deep breathing, enhancing oxygen delivery to all
parts of the body. Endorphin and serotonin levels rise. Laughter provides an
excellent internal massage to digestive tract as well as improving blood supply
to the internal organs. People who laugh don’t worry as much as people who
don’t laugh.
