In New England ON ZOOM (*RR)
Tuesday, August 4, 7pm
At one time New Englanders actually believed that the undead walked among them in the dark bowers of the night. Feeding upon their kin, these “ghouls” petrified families for more than 100 years. Scores of families exhumed their loved ones looking for the "spectral ghoul" that plagued them. Accounts and actual newspaper articles help tell the story of how people once took desperate measures to rid themselves of what we now know as the New England Vampire. Tom D'Agostino, author of "The History of Vampires in New England," is one of the region's most well-known writers and investigators of the paranormal. As founders of the Paranormal United Research Society, Tom and wife Arelene have been extensively studying and investigating paranormal accounts for over 28 years. Tom has authored many books, including: "A Guide to Haunted New England," "Haunted Massachusetts," "Haunted New Hampshire," "Haunted Rhode Island," "Pirate Ghosts and Phantom Ships," and "Abandoned Villages and Ghost Towns of New England." D'Agostino builds musical instruments, rebuilds clocks and antiques and collects rare books on New England legends, haunts and folklore. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
