Decision 2021: Tewksbury Municipal Election Season Shaping Up To Be ExcitingJan 29, 2021 08:49AM ● By Bill Gilman
Three weeks remain in the nomination period for the 2021 Tewksbury Municipal Election, but already there are signs it could be an exciting campaign season.
At the top of the ballot, two seats are up for grabs on the Board of Selectmen and two on the school committee. As of Jan. 27, four potential candidates had already taken out nomination papers for Board of Selectmen and three for School Committee.
In the race for Board of Selectmen, incumbent Mark Kratman, seeking his third term, has taken out nomination papers, as have potential challengers Collin McNaught, James Mackey and former Selectman Todd Johnson.
Incumbent Brian Dick has announced that he will not be seeking a second full term on the board.
The race for School Committee has taken on special significance this year with Covid-19 restrictions still in place. Two-term incumbent James Cutelis has taken out nomination papers, as have potential challengers Nicholas Parsons and Bridget Garabedian.
Incumbent Scott Wilson has not taken out nomination papers, as yet.
Other potential candidates who have taken out nomination papers, include:
Incumbent Stephen Johnson for a 5-year term on the Planning Board
Incumbent Raymond Berry for a 3-year term on the Board of Health
Incumbent Marc DiFruscia for a 5-year term on the Housing Authority
Incumbent Lisa Jean Gallagher for a 3-year term on the Shawsheen Tech School Committee

The Annual Town Election will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The last day for candidates to file their nomination papers is Friday, February 19, 2021 before 5:00 PM, at the Town Clerk’s Office. FIFTY (50) valid registered Tewksbury voter’s signatures and addresses are required.
