Feb. 10 Tewksbury School Committee Meeting
Highlights from the Tewksbury School Committee Meeting for February 10, 2021
The virtual meeting took place on February 10th, 2021, at 5:00 pm. As usual, it was televised and recorded on WebEx.
As a reminder, the members of the School Committee are; Keith M. Sullivan as the Chairperson, James A. Cutelis as the Vice-Chairman, Shannon M. Demos as the Clerk, and John R. Stadtman and Scott D. Wilson as members.
The student representative was Jack Stadtman, the Student Council Representative to the School Committee from Tewksbury Memorial High School.
There was Recognition of the TPS Nurses at this meeting.
The School Committee received reports from the Elementary School Building Committee, the Tewksbury SEPAC, and the Wellness Advisory Committee.
Old Business included reviewing the TPS MCAS Testing Dates memo and the Recommendation to accept the TMHS 2020-2021 Program of Studies.
New Business included the recommendation to accept the TMHS 2020-2021 Program of Studies, beginning the discussion of more in-person instruction, and the 2021 Superintendent Evaluation Timeline.
The Consent Agenda was also brought before the Committee. This included things such as Correspondence, Enrollment, Personnel, Fundraising, and more.
Correspondence saw the School Committee approve the School and District Report cards and release them. As well as the Pilot Student Survey; the Social and Emotional Learning Indicator System, or SELIS, for short, and a Welcome to Kindergarten correspondence to families of incoming kindergarten students.
The February 21st, 2021 Enrollment Update was brought to the committee and broken down by cohort.
New Hires were also brought to the attention of the School Committee with start dates all happening early this year.
Emma Sweetapple was approved to be the Interact Club Adviser at the Tewksbury Memorial High School.
Additionally, Resignations and Retirements in the school district were looked at and approved by the committee.
Finally, in terms of Fundraising and Raffles, many were brought to the attention of the committee. These included;
- Ryan PAC Raffle Nights, running every Thursday from March 4th - March 25th of 2021.
- The Dewing and North Street PAC’s Dewing School Spirit Wear Fundraiser, running from March to May of 2021.
- And the TMHS Student Council Musical Fundraiser, in which students and staff must make donations to make music stop playing through the halls during passing periods. This would run between March 15th and 19th, or until the goal of $1,000 is raised.
The next meetings will be held on March 10th and April 14th.
March 10th will be a Public Hearing on Budget as well as a regular meeting, and April 14th will be a post-election Reorganization Meeting as well as a regular meeting.
